welcome to my new blog! @ 21:05
Now college is almost over and i have lots more free time on my hands i have decided to get back into blogging and stick to it, i love doing it and find it relaxing once i get into a post so thought it would be great for all those long summer days we have coming up! i recently went to a nearby shopping centre and spent far too much money on makeup and clothes so i shall be doing a haul this week for all of that.

A night of dreams - Glamour Magazine Event @ 20:50
In February of this year I was lucky enough to win a competition with Glamour Magazine and The Body Shop to go to an event with celerity makeup artist Chase Aston and Some of the Glamour beauty team. The competition was in the January issue as a mentoring session, there were three different exclusive sessions which you could apply for these were careers and finance, fashion and beauty or health and wellbeing. I applied for the fashion and beauty session as I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to meet such industry greats!
The night was organised by The Body Shop to promote a new fragrance called ‘Dreams Unlimited’ and was described as a celebration of our hopes and our aspirations, it would deliver a burst of feel good factor that empowers and uplifts us to believe that we can achieve our unlimited dreams. The tag line for the fragrance was “if you can dream it, you can do it”.
After waiting two months to find out if I was one of the lucky 12 readers to attend the event on the 1st of February I got an email telling me I had won a place and that it would be held in the famous Mayfair Hotel in London. I was very excited and could not wait to see what an event like this would be like. I was allowed to bring a guest with me; I chose a college friend who I knew would benefit from talking to the people who were there as she would love to become a makeup artist.
When I got to the Mayfair hotel I was amazed at how grand it looked, as the doorman opened the doors we were greeted by a beautiful gold and red foyer with plush sofas and staff waiting to help you with anything you could want. We were directed up to the second floor and as we were walked in we were greeted by a Glamour intern with champagne and asked who we would like to talk to at the event. I jumped at the chance of talking to celebrity makeup artist Chase Aston as well as the beauty editors and directors.
Our pictures were then taken and we were offered more champagne and escorted into a conference room set up for a presentation of the ‘Dreams Unlimited’ perfume, Chase Aston came and gave us a small talk on who he was and the celebrity clients he has worked for. At the end of this we were told we were all going to get manicures and makeovers and to enjoy ourselves.
I was first to be called in to talk to Chase Aston. He first asked how I was and immediately made me feel at ease. He then asked if I was having any trouble with any aspects of my makeup or if I needed any tips. I immediately asked if he had any advice on how to do the perfect winged eyeliner and he gave me an amazing trick of using the web of skin between your thumb and finger as an eye socket to give you an easy way to practise. He then explained that this is also an excellent way of showing a client how their makeup would look. We then continued to talk about what it is like to work in the industry and what’s expected of makeup artists, he gave me great advice to never get too comfortable and always have your own signature style.
I was called in to talk to the editors, although I was nervous I was determined to ask them all the questions I thought I would need to know as working for a magazine is what I see myself doing. I sat down and they asked me what questions I had, I immediately said that I wanted to work in magazines and would love a job like theirs. The first question they asked me was if I had a blog and I said yes, they seemed impressed at this which gave me a small confidence boost, I was then asked what part of a magazine I see myself in to which I responded the beauty department. They were both really helpful and gave me some great pointers in how to break into the industry, they told me to intern for as many different places as I can think of as the experience you get is irreplaceable.
I found the whole night an amazing experience and got some advice I never would have without attending such a high profile event. I was even lucky enough two weeks after the event to be asked to contribute a quote to the magazine for the April issue, as well as this I left with £100 worth of products from the body shop and a whole new confidence and fresh ambition to work for a fashion magazine.

foundation routine @ 17:24
OK, warning!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Picture of me with no makeup below! haha, had to get that out there, i don't have perfect skin it used to be very acne prone but has got alot better over the years so my skins got some scaring and such. Just so you all know i have combination skin, I'm normally oily on my t-zone and dry on the cheeks.
So as you can see, I'm very pale! I don't mind really in the summer i tan quite well so I'm not complaining! Anyway lets get on with the products i use.
Before anything i think its really important to prepare your skin, i don't currently use a primer as i haven't found one that works well with my combination skin but i do use a moisturiser and eye gel just to make my foundation go on a little smoother. Here they are -

This looks a little gross! but i pour my foundation onto a DVD case(King Kong, what a rubbish film!) and stipple it off onto my face using a MAC 187 brush! which i love btw!
Mac studio fix fluid in NW15

This is a makeup international palette i use for college but as i don't have a concealer atm i use the skin tone, green and purple concealers in this when i need to, they are good and don't crease in any lines!

Tis' the season to sparkle! @ 14:33
So today I've been feeling really christmassy and really getting into the season! Only 33 sleeps people, get your shopping started! Yesterday during a trip to boots i picked up a nail polish which is going to be my December favourite i think! Its a Barry M glitter polish and i LOVE it.
This picture is with flash so it doesn't do the enamel justice at all, its filled with fine red, green and silver glitters and it looks beautiful! I put on Sally Hansen mega shine over the polish to really make it gleam and wow does it sparkle in the light! I advise you all to get this it has amazing coverage and from past experience it doesn't chip like alot of the glittery polishes do. it is available online and from all Barry M stockists here's the link if you are interested

my first EVER trip to MAC! @ 21:45
Hey everyone! so today was a momentous, amazing and wonderful day in any makeup addicts life! The first trip to Mac, ok so maybe I've left it a little late? I'm 18, but in my defence where i live the closest Mac is around a half hour to 45 minute journey!
I've asked for a few bits for Christmas namely concealer and a paint pot. Which my mum kindly brought me today:) so i do have a few more bits coming my way after December 24th!
Anyway back to my own shopping trip, i went into Debenhams which has a 10% off beauty products 3 day spectacular. I was suprised to hear this was also on the Mac stand and so decided today was the day to take the plunge. I always wanted some brushes but the cheaper alternatives seemed just as good in my opinion? But the 'A tartan tale' packaging drew me in and i decided on the 'A lady & her tricks buff and line brush collection' which includes a tartan purse/clutch bag, 187SE brush, 168SE brush, 219SE brush, 252SE brush and 209SE brush. Out of all of these the one i wanted most was the 187 brush! I'm always looking to improve my foundation routine trying to get the prefect finish and I've heard a lot of great things about this brush, on its own its around £30 and in the set with the 4 other brushes i paid £35.55 can i hear a BARGINOUS! so i had already decided on this set and decided to bite the bullet and ask an assistant for help, shock horror! I needed colour matching for my concealer and foundation and to my surprise the assistant was really helpful she was absolutely lovely and really put me at ease, i have often heard about bad experiences in Mac with the staff being a little snotty but my experience was completely the opposite to this! She colour matched me immediately saying I'm a NW15! i know! pale or what! but i have to say its a much better match than my Revlon colourstay in ivory. So after the assistant had colour matched my foundation i asked what concealer she recommended i get, after explaining that it was mainly for under my eyes and occasionally on blemishes she recommended studio sculpt to me rather than studio finish as it can look too drying under the eyes. Also she said get it slightly darker as the NW15 is practically white so i am NW20 in concealer. After that i asked which paint pot she would recommend as a base for me and rubenesque was what she got me and i was quite happy with that, i noticed she had on a gorgeous eyeshadow combination and thought what the hey! i may aswell ask, it turned out to be another of the 'A tartan tale' collection it was actually a set of five pigments in the '5 smokey thrill seekers pigments/glitters' these are gorgeous purple pinks and glitters which look amazing on the eye, luckily my mums put this away for another Xmas pressie! So that was my trip to Mac if you want a lovely selection of products and friendly staff i recommend the Debenhams Milton Keynes store.
As i said my mums put 3 of the things away for Christmas so i only have pictures of the brushes and foundation, but if you ever want to have a look at any of the products go to www.maccosmetics.co.uk which has all the information on all the products mentioned and more.
I will do a full review on products and brushes after I've had a good use out of them, i have to say i think i am now converted to Mac, I am off to London tomorrow and think i may have to get a MSF natural and eyebrow pencil recommended by Kelly from www.kelanjo.com

its the most wonderful season of all! UPDATE @ 20:07
is it too early for merry christmas!? i dont think so:) this is my favourite time of year! bundling up in warm clothes and having a dewy fresh makeup look with flushed rosy cheeks, i have recently found a perfect foundation routine so will be doing that post early next week and following it will be my fall/winter trends including the all can wear boot for £33! I am going shopping to London on saturday so a haul is in order also! sorry ive been MIA recently but ive got the next 3 blogs planned so by the end of next week they will all be up! xoxo Hana
